Spice of Life: Carrot Editionlordcazsius

Minecraft Mod: Spice of Life – Carrot Editionlordcazsius

Spice of Life – Carrot Editionlordcazsius is a mod designed to promote dietary variety in the Minecraft world. Instead of penalizing players for not diversifying their food intake, this mod rewards them for consuming a wide range of foods. It takes a positive approach by using a carrot instead of a stick!

The mod tracks the unique foods a player eats, and as they reach certain milestones, they permanently gain new hearts, increasing their maximum health. This encourages players to explore and craft exotic foods to maximize their HP bars.

Players can customize their starting hearts and the number of unique foods required to reach each milestone using the mod’s custom configuration. Additionally, the number of hearts granted per milestone is configurable as well.

While the default configuration allows players to go from 10 to 20 hearts by consuming various non-poisonous foods in vanilla Minecraft, the mod is ideal for modpack authors looking to incorporate food mods like Pam’s HarvestCraft. It adds depth to the cooking system and motivates players to delve into complex recipes. This gives rise to a new niche of “chef” players alongside miners and engineers in the Minecraft community.

To help players track their progress, the mod offers a useful tool called the Food Book, crafted by combining a book and a carrot. This book visualizes overall progress and lists the foods eaten and yet to be consumed. The latter feature can be disabled in the configuration settings.

The mod also includes three commands:

/foodlist size: Displays the number of unique foods consumed and how many more are needed to reach the next milestone.

/foodlist clear: Resets the list of unique foods eaten and heart count, useful for testing or starting over.

/foodlist sync: Synchronizes the food list with the client in case of discrepancies.

1.13+ Config (IMPORTANT): In versions post-1.12, the mod utilizes a new config system with separate client-side and server-side configurations to specify visuals, milestones, hearts, and blacklists.
