Starlight is a Forge mod designed to enhance the light engine in Minecraft, addressing lighting performance issues and errors. It provides improvements to lighting effects for a smoother gameplay experience.
For future updates beyond version 1.20, please refer to the official project page: Starlight GitHub Page. However, it is important to note that the mod will not receive further updates in the near future.
Compatibility:
Starlight can be installed on either the server or client side, with no requirement for both installations. Clients can connect using Vanilla/Phosphor/Starlight if the server has Starlight installed, and vice versa. It is essential to avoid installing Starlight alongside Phosphor, as they are not compatible.
Purpose and Performance:
Starlight was primarily developed to address performance issues on high-scale dedicated servers where the light engine was causing significant slowdowns. By rewriting the light engine, Starlight aims to offer a more efficient lighting system. However, due to its invasive nature, it may occasionally impact other mods.
