Minecraft Mod: Very Many Players (Fabric)
Very Many Players
A Minecraft mod designed to enhance server performance especially at high player counts. VMP is currently in its early development stages, so some issues may arise. Please report any problems through our issue tracker.
What is VMP?
Very Many Players, known as VMP, is a Fabric mod created to optimize general server performance in high player count scenarios while preserving vanilla functionalities.
For optimal performance, it is recommended to use VMP alongside Lithium.
How Does VMP Boost Performance?
VMP delivers performance improvements in various areas:
- Enhanced server-side game logic through area maps for better packet sending and player lookups.
- Optimized entity trackers, fluid state lookups, and ingredient matching using caches.
- Improved entity iteration for collisions.
- Enhanced ticket propagator with MCUtil from the Paper project for better efficiency.
Client-Side and Networking Enhancements
The mod also provides:
- Utilization of Java’s built-in time source instead of GLFW via JNI for better timekeeping on the client-side.
- Custom chunk sending mechanism with optional packet-level rate limiting.
- Packet-level per-player render distance for networking performance.
- Increased responsiveness of vanilla TCP connections using packet priority from raknetify.
