YUNG’s Better End Island is a mod that completely overhauls the main End Island in Minecraft where the dragon fight takes place. The mod features redesigned obsidian pillars, End gateways, spawn platform, and portal at the center of the island. One significant change is that the dragon no longer spawns initially; instead, it will be summoned when a player approaches the bell tower in the center.
To resummon the dragon, the 4 crystals are no longer placed next to the portal. Instead, players will find 4 bedrock blocks inside the tower – one in each directional wing – where the crystals can be placed to start the dragon summoning process. The mod supports both these new crystal positions and the vanilla crystal summoning positions to prevent confusion for players unfamiliar with the mod.
The dragon’s AI remains unchanged in this mod.
For existing worlds, the mod provides the /end_island reset command to reset the dragon fight and replace any previous portal or pillars with the redesigned versions. It’s essential to back up your world before using this command, as it performs significant actions in the background. Deleting the End dimension files alone is not sufficient, and the command is still needed.
If issues arise with portal/tower spawning after using the command, such as the portal spawning under the island, the full command /end_island reset true can be used to attempt placing the portal on the surface again. As always, remember to back up your world before attempting any changes.
